The Throwback Special by Chris Bachelder (33/52)

A group of middle-aged men gets together every year to reenact a single moment in NFL history, same hotel, same weekend, same calamity. Bachelder gets the insanity and the sincerity just right as he draws each of these men with a fine point. The relationships, the jealousies, the battle between tradition and progress is all played out to laughs and reflection. I enjoyed the truth of loneliness in the life of a middle-aged man despite being surrounded by “friends”. Excellent read if you consider yourself a middle-aged man.
