The Shell Collector (Stories) by Anthony Doerr (16/52)

Capturing the little moments of life, Doerr is at his exquisite best in this collection of short stories. Doerr’s ability to describe the beauty in the monotonous is captivating. Each story challenging the focus of the reader by presenting ever-changing perspective. I especially loved The Caretaker and Mkondo, both stories of outsiders struggling to make sense of the world we set up for ourselves. Doerr implores us to return to nature. Beautiful writing, compelling stories. Highly recommended.
