The Hellfire Club by Jake Tapper

Tapper takes us into the underbelly of US politics in the 60s where if you’re on the inside, you do what is necessary to stay inside. It is at one turn a mystery-thriller with dark shootouts, but also a searing commentary on the elite and the lengths they go to hold onto their money, power and prestige. The story is strong and that carries through some scenes that are written with a little clunk. It’s a great novel if you love politics and reminiscing about the “good ol’ days.”
