Fierce Kingdom by Gin Phillips (27/52)

When the shooters enter the zoo, Joan and her son Lincoln are trapped and need to run and hide to survive. Phillips shows the struggle between passivity and activity, everyone for themselves mentality and we’re in the together and compassion for your attacker or returning violence with violence. I enjoyed this easy book for its premise, though the writing was rather pedestrian. I also found it difficult to not be completely annoyed with Lincoln. Good read.
